William "Bill " Best Obituary

Best, Mr. William “Bill” Watson, age 90, of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025, at The Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Bill was born on October 5, 1934, in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. He lived in many small Saskatchewan communities but spent most of his youth in Cabri, Saskatchewan. He was a father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend known for his storytelling and quick wit. Bill worked as a professional firefighter with the City of Swift Current for over 30 years and enjoyed hobbies such as camping, fishing, and reading. 

Bill married Berle Underwood of Milestone, Saskatchewan, on May 17, 1958. Together, they had three children: Laurie (Marty), Keith (Judy), and Rena (Kelly).
Bill is survived by his daughter, Laurie, and her children, Cale and Kyla (Landon); his great-granddaughters, Ross and Wells. His son, Keith, and his wife, Judy; his son-in-law, Kelly, and his children, Kalven and Ellie. As well as Berle’s brother, Barry (Dorothy).

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Bill, his wife Berle, daughter Rena, son-in-law Marty, sister Kay and brother-in-law Allan. 

The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to The Swift Current Salvation Army.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at The Meadows for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Bill.  Your kindness, patience, and professionalism brought comfort to Bill and us all.
