Wendy was born to Ruth and Harry Lewis on September 21, 1950 in Eastend SK. She brought them immense pride and joy as their first daughter, following two sons: Larry Lewis (Marty) and Glen Lewis (Linda). Later, she was joined by three beloved sisters: Cathy Reesor (Dick), Barbara Sanderson (Scott), and Debbie McMillan (Larry).
She grew up on a mixed grain and cattle farm south of Robsart, SK. In her early school years, Wendy rode a horse to Ridgecliff School, later attending Robsart School and graduating from Consul High School. She enjoyed helping her dad with chores—hauling bales, feeding cows—and assisting her mom with household tasks and gardening. Wendy was an excellent cook, learning her skills early by helping her mom prepare family meals and assisting her aunt Millie during harvest time. She was also a role model for keeping a spotless home and vehicle, taking pride in everything she owned. Wendy enjoyed volleyball, curling, cheerleading, softball, hockey, dancing, singing, and music.
Growing up, Wendy loved spending time with her sisters and cousins—the “good-lookin’ Lewis girls.” Living just miles apart, they shared countless good times. Christmas on the farm was a major event, often bringing together several families for laughter, games, and big meals.
On December 9, 1972, Wendy married the love of her life, Keith Pierce. At her passing, they were just five days short of celebrating 53 wonderful years together. They resided in Val Marie, SK, Wartime, SK and eventually settled into Swift Current in 1980. They had three children: Jeffery, born in Maple Creek SK, Robynn was born in Climax SK, and Kimberley was born in Elrose SK.
Family was Wendy’s greatest joy. She cherished gatherings at Ruth and Harry’s, where siblings, spouses, and grandchildren celebrated special occasions together—dancing at the town hall or sharing stories, big hearty meals and laughter at home. Her laughter was contagious, truly music to the ears. Wendy also loved time at the family cabin in Cypress Hills during the 1980s, enjoying cross-country skiing, golfing, walking, and traveling.
Although Wendy was denied the chance to fully enjoy retirement with Keith, she treasured their travels to beautiful destinations worldwide. Always impeccably prepared, Wendy ensured every detail was perfect—from packing Keith’s clothes to coordinating outfits for formal events. She was a classy lady, and Keith treated her like the queen she was.
Wendy completed a secretarial course in Red Deer, AB, and worked briefly at H&R Block. After years devoted to raising her children and supporting Keith’s career, she pursued part-time sales roles, including Amway and video advertising. Later, Wendy managed the Dairymaid on the south side of Swift Current—a family venture that taught her children valuable work ethics. Known for serving the best ice cream in town, Wendy insisted on quality over cost. Her sense of style and vibrant personality later led her to Katherine’s Fashions, where she thrived and formed lasting friendships. Eventually, Wendy transitioned to bookkeeping for the family’s insurance and financial planning business, a role she held until shortly before Keith’s retirement in 2019.
In her spare time, Wendy loved cheering on her children and grandchildren in sports and activities. Whether hockey, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, or track, she was their biggest fan—never shy about voicing her opinions from the sidelines! She also enjoyed professional sports, holding season tickets for the Swift Current Broncos and cheering for the Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Before moving to long-term care, Wendy’s favorite moments were spent with family and friends at the cabin at Saskatchewan Landing, relaxing on the deck and watching hummingbirds.
After a courageous seven-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Wendy passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at The Meadows Long-Term Care Home in Swift Current, with Keith and daughters Kim and Robynn by her side. She will be missed by all and is survived by her husband Keith Pierce, daughters Robynn Schous, Kim Pierce (Kirk Haviland), grandsons Matthew Pierce (Becky), Ashton Schous, Tucker Schous, granddaughter Samantha Rempel and three great grandsons. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Harry Lewis, and her son Jeffery Pierce.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Innovation I-Plex Auditorium located at 2001 Chaplin St. East, Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on Friday, January 9, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Wendy’s loved ones in honoring her life.
