Walter Leisle Obituary

LEISLE: Walter was born on March 26, 1928 on the family farm south of Morse, SK. He was the third youngest of 11 children born to Anna (nee Schwartz) and Jacob Leisle of Morse. Walter married Agnes (nee Wilson) on October 26, 1948 in Moose Jaw, SK. They began their married life farming and moved to the Leisle homestead in the fall 1950. They resided on the homestead until they moved to Swift Current Riverview Estates in 2014, and remained there until 2021, they then moved to the nursing home in Herbert. Together they were active in the Morse community attending ball games, sports days and dances. They participated in bowling, curling, golfing, and took leadership in the Ernfold 4-H. Walter and Agnes enjoyed summers camping at Palliser and over 30 winters in Mesa, Arizona where they made many friends. Walter was an active member of the Elks, and served on several boards. He took great pride in the family farm and watching his children and grandchildren grow.  He was a devoted husband and father. Walter enjoyed animals, Bluejays games and loved music. Walter was predeceased by his loving wife Agnes in 2021; his parents; eight siblings; a granddaughter Janelle Leisle in 1993; and a daughter-in-law Bonnie in 2016. Walter is survived by his children Barry Leisle of Morse, Bonnie (Ron) Gerbrandt of Lucky Lake, SK, Tony (Bonnie) Leisle of Spruce Grove, AB, Glenn (Pam) Leisle of Morse, Mary Lee (Ray) Michell of Comox, BC and Raymond (Karen) Leisle of Medicine Hat, AB; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. The family would like to thank the staff at the Herbert Intergraded Health Facility for their care. Walter and Agnes were inseparable for 73 years. Their wish was to stay together till the end. A celebration of life service for Walter and Agnes will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the interment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
