Jones, Verna Eva age 88 years, of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Gull Lake Special Care Home. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2023 from Knox United Church with Rev. Ken Schrag officiating. The pianist was Millie Spagrud. The eulogists were Charla Achter and Tiffany Lloyd. Barry Jones and Brent Pedersen served as ushers. The pallbearers were Matt Jones, Evan Girodat, Chris Achter, Terrik Beaudoin, Derek Lloyd, and Wes Renouf. Verna is survived by her children: Murray Jones (Sheyla), Tim Jones (Cindy), Kerri Girodat (Warren); grandchildren: Charla Achter (Chris), Jenny Beaudoin (Terrik), Matt Jones (Emily), Tiffany Lloyd (Derek), Lexie Girodat (Wes Renouf), Evan Girodat (Kennedy), Brett Jones, Brittany Curtis (Mike); great-grandchildren: Easton Girodat, Ezra, Eric, Ethan, Elisabeth Lloyd; Keira, Raina, Hayden, Claire Achter; Ty, Jordy, Tori Beaudoin; Eva, Hayes Jones; Drake Renouf; Nathanael, Isabelle, Aurelia, Ellawyn Curtis; brother Roy Pedersen; sister Marion St. John; sister-in-law Vi Pedersen; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Verna was predeceased by her husband Gerald Jones; son Mark Howard Jones; siblings and their spouses: Dagmar, Lillian Pedersen (infant deaths), Ralph Pedersen (Marion), Elden Pedersen (Marguerite), Marjorie Huntley (Cecil), Alma O'Conner (Dick), Jim Pedersen (Pat), Howard Pedersen, Faye Pedersen, Jim St. John, Sandra Hicks; mother-in-law and father-in-law Henry and Wilhelmena Jones; Wilf Jones (Irene), Anna Mae Thon Walton (Clayton, Joe), Reese Jones (Verna), Joyce Thon (Ed), Ron Jones (Edna), Charlie Jones (Sonja); as well as many other beloved family members. Verna was born at the family farm (Sunny Slope) north of Gull Lake on November 26, 1934. She attended school at the Rich View Country School. Verna married Gerald Jones in Gull Lake on October 25, 1957. Verna worked as a childcare giver and farmer. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching all of their events. Saturday night coffee, and visits from many of her family and friends. She enjoyed growing flowers and watching the birds, canning fruit and baking, reading, and doing puzzles. She spent time on Facebook to keep up with family when calls and letters where a thing of the past. Donations in her memory to the Gull Lake Seniors Taxi Service would be appreciated by the family.
