Burkey, Tracey Louise of Fort McMurray, Alberta, and formerly of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away on December 10, 2023 at the age of 56 years. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church Hall with Barbara Burkey and Victoria Burkey officiating. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were all who shared in her life.
Tracey is survived by her father Charles W. Burkey; sister Barbara Burkey; niece Victoria A. Burkey (Blake Haavisto); niece Charlene K. Burkey (Dustin Bissonnette); great-niece Raylen P. Burkey. She was predeceased by her mother Verna Victoria Burkey; brother Raymond William Burkey; grandmother Annie Demtryk.
Tracey was born in The Pas, Manitoba on May 16, 1967 and attended school at Kelsey Elementary (in Manitoba), Kyle Composite from grade 6 – 12. She was employed at Casey’s Dining Room for a few years where she gained many friends before moving to Alberta.
In her younger years she was very passionate about sports, especially Power Lifting. In September 1992 she went on to compete in the World Drug Free Powerlifting Championships in Derby, England where she placed 2nd!
Tracey loved Sally-Ann shopping, getting dolled up with nowhere to go. Her smile would light up a room, her laugh was contagious, she had a brilliant mind. The love she had for her family and friends was unconditional. The sudden loss has left a great hole in many hearts, but her many memories will last a lifetime. “Know when to see peace. For as long as the moon shall rise. For as long as the river’s shall flow. For as long as the sun shall shine. For as long as the grass shall grow. Let us have peace.” We love you more than you know!
Donations in Tracey’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a local Mental Health or Addictions. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
