Sylvia Pleasance Obituary

Sylvia Elizabeth Ann Green was born on January 15, 1943, at Hamiota, Manitoba, to Lawrence and Anne Green, the first of four children.  In March of 1943, they moved to Tompkins, Saskatchewan.  Later that spring they moved to the Nadeauville district north of Tompkins.  They lived on various farm properties in the district, and she received her education at several local rural schools.

When she left school, she worked for several local families as a babysitter/housekeeper.  In the summer of 1961, she moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, to work as a babysitter/housekeeper for the Lawrence Hankins family.  It was while working here that she met her future husband Verne Pleasance from Tompkins.  They were married on September 28, 1963, in Medicine Hat and moved to the Pleasance farm south of Tompkins, it was here that she became the mother of her four children: Lyle, Gregory, Janette, and Kevin.  In the fall of 1982, the farm was sold and the family moved into Gull Lake.  In the spring of 1985, she obtained her class 1 drivers license and went to working hauling and spreading gravel for a local company.  The family moved to Swift Current in the fall of 1987.  At various times she worked as a waitress in the restaurants at Truck Town, Country Kitchen, and the Husky Truck Stop.  In the fall of 1989, she became a team driver with her husband doing long haul freight traveling all of the lower 48 states and 9 provinces in Canada over a period of about 15 years.  After that, she started working as a housekeeper at various motels in Swift Current until she retired.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Verne, her four children and their families: Lyle (Cindy), Jordan, Joshua Pleasance; Gregory (Jacquiline), Miranda, Tyler, and Briana Pleasance; Janette (Brent), Crystal (Garet), Brandon (Samantha), Alexis, Darren Wessner; Kevin and Sierra, Charlee Pleasance; her brother Bernard (Laurie) Green; 7 great-grandchildren, and many other family members.  She was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Anne Green; brother Renald and sister-in-law Patricia Green, sister Shirley, and brother-in-law Richard Eggen; parents-in-law Charles and Elsie Pleasance.

The family would like to send a big thank you to all of The Meadows staff in House 20 for all of the wonderful care that she received during her stay there.
