Stanley Sartison, 86, of Swift Current received his final reward on January 29, 2025, after a life in service to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Community Baptist Church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan (800 2 Ave N.W.) with Pastor Joell Haugen officiating. The interment will follow the service at Mount Pleasant Burial Park.
Stan is survived by his wife Olga; daughter Janie (Kevin) Klassen; granddaughter Danielle (John) McDonald; Laila and Emma; granddaughter Stephanie (James) McGuire; Elizabeth, Elijah, Elena and Ezra; granddaughter; Vanessa (Pryston) Holfeld; son Tyler; his brother Jim (Linda); his sister Gloria (Greg) Marasco; his sisters-in-law: Cathy and Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his first wife Mary nee Froese; parents Fred and Mabel nee Springer; his brothers: Mark, Terry, Howard and Ron; his sister Phyllis Driver; and nephews; David and Charlie.
Stan was born at Scottsburgh, Saskatchewan, on March 16, 1938. He attended school up until grade 8. He later obtained his GED high school diploma. He attended International Bible School near Estevan and after that he attended trade school in Moose Jaw and became a journey man bricklayer. He was employed for most of his working career at Southwest Masonry.
Stan loved entertaining children with ventriloquism, balloon animals and magic tricks. Stan was very involved in Children’s Ministries in the local churches he attended. Stan and his first wife and their children would travel around to different churches on occasion to put on children’s programs. Stan would spend 2 hours every morning and evening reading his Bible and in prayer.
Many local kids would remember him for making balloon animals for them at different restaurants and at the mall, where he was also Santa Claus for many years. Stan was also Ronald McDonald for the Regina, Moose Jaw and Swift Current restaurants in the mid to late 1970’s.
Other interests of Stan’s included polka and dancing at the old-time dances, and playing many instruments with the old-time fiddlers. He was very musical and could play by ear. You would often find him strumming his guitar or running a bow over his musical saw.
He will be sadly missed by many people that came to know him.
