Ruby Wiebe Obituary

Wiebe, Ruby Jane, 75, of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away April 22, 2021 at Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, Saskatchewan.
Ruby is survived by her children: Ed (Shari) Wiebe, Carolee (Roger) Carignan; her grandchildren: Sabrina Carignan, Brody Carignan (Taylor Dixon), Shawn (Alex) Wiebe, Eric Wiebe; her great grandchildren: Charlee Jones, Ayden Jones, Kinley Wiebe, Elliott Carignan, and Ellie Wiebe; her sisters, Donna Ramsey, and Teresa (Mark) VanderVlekkert; her brothers and sisters in-law Agnes (Abe) Thiessen, Sam (Hank) Dyck, Abe (Teresa) Wiebe, Henry (Nancy) Wiebe, Tina (Gale) Dickie, Willie Wiebe, Mary (Doug) Judiesch; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her spouse, Peter Wiebe; her parents, Edward and Helen Carruthers; her father and mother-in-law, Peter and Aganetha Wiebe; her children, Sherry Lee Wiebe, Douglas John Wiebe, and David Martin Wiebe; her sisters, Maxine (Dave) Reeves, Lil (Tom) Thomson, Shirley (Leonard) Head; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen (Leo) Lambert, Cornie (Eva) Wiebe, Betty Spooner, Ann (Bill) George; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruby was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on April 13, 1946 to Edward and Helen Carruthers. She attended school at Elmwood School, and the Swift Current Collegiate Institute (now the Swift Current College).
Ruby worked many jobs, including the Swift Current Union Hospital with her mother, Helen Carruthers, Woolco when it was located down town, Zellers for many years, and finally the Salvation Army Thrift Store with her sister, Maxine Reeves, before retiring. However, one major job that she started in 1967, which required many hours of attention and was the most important, was being the mother of Ed and Carolee.
Ruby enjoyed the many visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether it be in person or by video chatting.  She loved to tell many stories from over the years. One story requested more than others had Ruby making bread, or at least attempting to make bread, that grew out of a hole in the ground meant for an outhouse. Peter would say that it was a good thing it rained overnight or it may have grown the size of Wymark.
The family of Ruby Wiebe would like to offer their thanks to the Cypress Regional Hospital, Prairie Health Care Centre, and the many ladies from Home Care that provided the care, compassion and many laughs in the time she had left.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A., Box 1163, Stn Main, Swift Current, Saskatchewan S9H 3X3, or a charity of your choosing in Ruby's name.  Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
