Her mother passed from injuries sustained in a house fire when Rose was 6 months old so she lived with relatives until her father remarried. She attended a country school followed by a Hair Dressing Course in Saskatoon. She worked in Kindersley for a while, then moved to Medicine Hat where she worked in a clothing store. She met her husband Joseph when she joined the Catholic Youth Organization. They married in November of 1949, and were married for 50 years. They remained in Medicine Hat where Patrick and Kathleen were born then moved to Gull Lake in 1953 where Rosemary and Richard were born. Rose was always active. She was a lifetime member of CWL, Girl Guide leader, TOPS Club, loved cards and dice games of any kind, bridge being her favorite. Member of the seniors group, bowling and quilters often holding offices in these groups. She is well remembered for her tea leaf reading ability. Rose and Joe enjoyed camping and visiting with family and friends. She loved food and cooking for people, some of her specialties were spudnuts, ginger bread men, crumb cake and many apple related recipes due to the apple trees in the back yard. In 1976 she joined the staff at the Gull Lake Special Care home and enjoyed working there for 10 years making many friends until changes in her health caused her to retire. We always said she had nine lives as she cheated death many times. After a recent close call we were blessed with her return to relatively good health for her last year. THE POWER OF PRAYER! Is what we feel got her through. God, the church and prayer were always an important part of her life. The family wishes to thank the staff of Autumn House for making her feel at home and taking such good care of her for the three years she was with you. To Dr. Kozroski for being so patient and making a difference in her health and her life. To the Meadows House 14 Staff who made her feel special and treated her like family. Rose made long lasting friendships where ever she went as she saw the good in everyone. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the following: Gull Lake Ambulance, Box 656, Gull Lake SK S0N 1A0; Autumn House, Box 630, Gull Lake SK S0N 1A0; Gull Lake Special Care Centre Auxiliary, Box 539, Gull Lake SK S0N 1A0.
