It is with full hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Rose Moen, who left this world on November 17, 2025, at the age of 79.
Rose is lovingly remembered by her children, Sandra Wik (Ron) and Travis Moen (Jami-Lee); her grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan (Keisha), Harper (Tristen), and Holden; and her great-grandson, Quinton. She is also survived by her siblings Charles Hellman (Grace), Eileen Andrews, and Claire Miller (David Spartz); her in-laws Norma Cook, Diane Hellman, Debbie Hellman, and Dale Moen (Connie); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Glenn; her son, Allan; her parents, Nick and Theresa Hellman; Glenn’s parents, Miller and Mike Moen; her sister, Marlene Deck; her brothers, Robert, Lloyd, and Ronnie Hellman; her in-laws Pius Deck, Warren Andrews, Jerry Miller, Gerry Moen, and Bill Cook; her nephews Toby and Robin Hellman; her niece April Hellman; and great-niece Amara Welford and great-nephew Dawson Deck.
Rose was a woman of quiet strength—sweet, shy, and endlessly kind.
Born on August 25, 1946, in Leader, Saskatchewan, Rose and her twin brother Ronnie were the youngest of eight children. She grew up on the family farm near Richmound. She was always a sweet and happy child; she loved people, going to school and cherished time with friends.
After school, she joined her sister Eileen in Calgary, where she worked at a clerical job. She later moved to Swift Current to live with her sister Claire, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Glenn. They married in April 1967 and raised three children together.
Rose and Glenn shared a special everlasting love. Their life together took them to many communities over the years—starting in Swift Current when they were first married, then Stewart Valley. In 1979, the moved to Sanctuary, Lacadena in 1988, Grenfell in 1997, and finally back to Swift Current in 2004. Wherever they lived, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships.
They loved to camp and travel, always making time to visit those who mattered most. In retirement, they continued their adventures with family and friend visits, and soon added bus trips to their fun. Rose especially enjoyed playing cards at the Stewart Valley Senior Centre and enjoyed visiting the casino, where she often had a lucky streak and would giggle with delight when she won.
She was a devoted homemaker, and she took great pride in caring for her family; and was equally proud of them. She was famous for her butter tarts, chocolate fudge, and chocolate sauce. She loved many sports, but none more than watching her grandchildren play.
Though she moved through life softly, her love was powerful and unwavering. She found joy in simple moments and treasured every moment spent with those she loved.
A celebration of life for Rose will be taking place at a later date. Internment will take place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park where she will be peacefully laid to rest with her husband and son.
