Ronald Taylor Obituary

Ronald William Taylor, age 88 of Gull Lake, SK passed away September 16, 2024 with family by his side.  

Ronald is survived by his 4 children: Rhonda (David) Krasko, Randy (Karen) Taylor, Leeann Taylor, Dawnette (Jerry) Peterson; 6 grandchilden:  Brandy Krasko, Brian (Tara) Krasko, Dara (Curtis) Basso, Sherisse (Joe) Salter, Justin Taylor, Mitchell (Meagan) Peterson; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 1996, parents Harold and Marjorie Taylor, brother Donald Taylor, mother and father-in-law Joe Murray and Lila (Keith) Bugg, and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

Ronald Taylor was born December 12, 1935 in Gull Lake, SK to Harold and Marjorie Taylor.  He attended St. Clair School for 9 years.  He then took the remainder of his high school in Swift Current and graduated in 1954.  On November 8, 1958 he married Joyce Murray of Shaunavon, SK who was teaching school in Simmie, SK.  Ron was a farmer, and lived and breathed farming all his life.  For the first year and a half of their marriage they resided in Simmie - Ron drove to the farm to work every day while Joyce remained teaching.  In the fall of 1959, they began building their house on the farm, and moved in in June 1960 where they lived and raised their 4 children.  In 1985, they built and moved into a house Gull Lake, SK.  Ron lived in Gull Lake for the remainder of his life.  He remained active on the farm and drove out daily until the last couple years.  Two weeks before his passing, he was out at the farm checking the sample pail of the current harvest.

Ron was very active in the community throughout his life.  He was a director on the Wheat Pool committee, Gull Lake Credit Union, Clairbank Hall.  He was involved with a citizens group to construct a new theatre in Gull Lake.  He was a founding member of Southwest Terminal (SWT), and a director for many years.

Ron enjoyed curling, and participated in many local bonspiels over the years.  He packed up the family and we went camping every year in July.  His passion in later life was antique tractors - he has a collection of 3 Cockshutts, and 4 John Deere.  

Ron’s final resting place will be Riverview Cemetery, in Clairbank district – 2 miles from his farm.
