Romeo Prive Obituary

Romeo Prive: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, Romeo Herve Prive on October 29, 2021. Born April 14, 1934 on the homestead in Gouverneur, he was the 4th of 8 children born to Wilfred and Jeanne Prive. He is survived by his children, Dianne (Lindsay Antoniak), Paul, Richard and Evelynn; daughters-in-law Carrie Bonnell and Sharon Johnson; grandchildren Martin (Amanda), Ginette (Keith), Rachelle, Savannah  (Jason), Scott (Jessica), Roman (Carly), Samantha (Spencer), Alexandra; and 9 great grandchildren; sister, Laurianne (Andy Drystek); brothers, Norman (Shaughna) and Clement (Yvonne - deceased); and sister-in-law, Madeleine Bourlon Prive. He was predeceased by the love of his life, married for 65 years, his wife Stella Claire Douville (Dec. 9, 1931 - Nov. 22, 2019), and their stillborn son, Joseph; brothers, Leo, Lucien and Wilfred, and sister, Laurette. When Romeo was 7, the family moved to Manitoba. At 17 he started his work career, laying in telegraph line in northern Ontario and northern Alberta. Life brought him back to Ponteix where he worked at Chabot's shop until the fall of '66 when the family moved to the Douville farm and he became a full time farmer. Romeo was devoted to his faith and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. Our father had many passions, mainly hunting, fishing, tinkering and welding in the shop, cards - cribbage was always his favourite, playing pool with his friends and golfing. He spent many hours taking care of his lawn and garden. He and Mom loved to travel with family and friends and they had many wonderful trips for many years. Happy Hour was always the best! There will be a funeral held for Romeo Prive at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
