Roger Claire Tangen
May 24, 1938 - February 14, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roger Claire Tangen, age 86, on February 14, 2025. He passed away peacefully in Swift Current, with his family by his side.
Roger was born on May 24, 1938, in Swift Current to Arne and Selma Tangen, the seventh in a family of eleven children. Roger grew up in the Stewart Valley district attending school in Leinan and Stewart Valley. He dedicated 37 working years to the Pioneer Co-op. He had a passion for watching his kids and grandkids play sports, camping with his family, fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, helping his kids and grandkids with numerous renovation projects, and was famous for his homemade buns, bread, baked beans, soups.
In 1964, Roger married Myrna Faye Reimer, sharing nearly 61 years of married life together. He was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother, and friend to many. Roger is survived by his wife Myrna, his children Tracy Tangen (Heather), Rheanne Pederson (Glen), Jason Tangen (Sara Clark), Laureen Johnson (Dan). His many grandchildren and great grandchildren Brayden, Cassidy (Matt), Dawson (Kelsey), Carter (Jordan), Hunter, Kamryn, Porter, Quinn, baby Krew, and two step grandchildren Josie and Manny Clark. His remaining two siblings Garry Tangen (Linda) and Sheila Bloomberg (Glenn), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Selma and Arne Tangen, sisters Jeanette (Ted) Targerson, Edith Tangen, Audrey (Joe) Street, Faye (Lawrence) Romano, Donna Tangen, Cheryl (Lloyd) Howes, brothers Harold Tangen (Sybil) and Bob Tangen (Vi). Roger was also predeceased by his grandson Parker Johnson.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held Thursday, February 20th at 1 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. A private family internment will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Swift Current Hemodialysis Unit and The Meadows in Roger's honor.
