Robert "Bob" Davies Obituary

DAVIES: Robert (Bob) Howard age 76 of Gull Lake, SK passed away on June 18, 2022 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Gull Lake Community Hall. Bob is survived by his wife Kathleen Davies; his children Twila (Ron) Wedrick, Kim (Joe) Holizki, Doan (Chantelle) Davies, Zane (Tomoko) Davies, Keona (Jake) Mindorff, Kwanita (Taylor) Nelson and Kent (Venus) Davies; grandchildren Evan (Kym), Shianna (Shane), Dietta, Kayla (Aaron), Tianna, Jalayna, Jayden, Tanner, Carsten, Emerson, Anekah, Tavaris, Kaylana, Malayna, Corrina, Marissa, Kathleen, Glendon and Gracie; great-grandchildren: Lou, Sonny and Kyzer; sister Linda Logan; brother Bill (Pat) Davies; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Edward and Muriel (nee: Howard) Davies and parents-in-law Eldon and Kay Bennett. Bob was born on April 16, 1946 in Gull Lake, SK and attended school in Gull Lake. He married Kathy Bennett on December 24, 1974 in Calgary, AB. Bob Davies was a man larger than life. He had a passion for anything with wheels or wings. His adventurous soul had him hang gliding, ultra-light flying, motorcycle riding, and touring all over Western Canada, NWT and Yukon with his wife and kids. Bob loved swimming and was proud to be the first of 3 generations of lifeguards/instructors at the Gull Lake Swimming Pool. He could fix anything from a broken heart to a broken vehicle. He made friends everywhere he went with his warm smile and love for a laugh. Always quick to offer a helping hand and warm hug to anyone in need. An amazing storyteller, with legendary stories just wild enough to make the listener skeptical ... turns out they were true! Oh, the shenanigans he got into with his "chums" and his brother Bill! There is nothing Bob loved more than his family. He met the love of his life Kathy back in the days of bell bottoms, long hair and shaggy beards. They made a lifetime of memories together and have been inseparable since their first date. Bob and Kathy's biggest adventure was raising 7 children, who added 7 spouses, 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. This certainly earned him some bragging rights, which he loved to do! He had the biggest heart and so much love to share. Even though he had a family larger than most people can comprehend, he was always "adopting" more grandchildren, and is fondly known around town and by many nurses as Grandpa Bob! His memory will leave a smile on the face of any person that met him. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Gull Lake Swimming Pool c/o Town of Gull Lake P.O. Box 150 Gull Lake, SK S0N 1A0.
