Robert Johnston

The family of Robert Johnston are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  The graveside service for Mr. Robert Johnston was held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. 

Robert William Johnston was born on July 15, 1934 in Cabri, Saskatchewan to Andrew and Mabel Johnston.  Robert attended school in the Idaho District first in Hazlet, then he attended high school at Beatty Collegiate in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  He also played baseball for the Idaho Idots in his younger years.

Robert was employed for various places.  He worked at the Gull Lake Coop, Swift Current Coop, Standard Motors and Nutters, the health food Store.  In his spare time, Robert loved to camp, fish, kite flying, wood working, and spending time with family.  Robert was looking at the bright side of life, and loved to put a smile on your face.

Robert is survived by his sons: Brian (Denise) Johnston, and Bruce Johnston; grandchildren: Andy (Carin) Johnston, Brady Johnston, Mikayla Johnston, Lillie Johnston, and Anne Forehand – Johnston; great grandchild Sakura Shepherd; sister Dorothy McIver; sisters-in-law: Jean Johnston, Lillian Johnston, Zelma Boyce, Maxine (Frank) Wall, Shirley Hagman, Dorothy Harder, and Rosalind McDonald; brother-in-law Clem (Lorna) Werner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was predeceased by wife Marie Johnston; parents Andrew and Mabel Johnston; parents-in-law George and Lilly Werner; sister Leona (Ron) Forbes; brothers: Baby Johnston, Wilbur (Magdalene) Johnston, Lester (Lucille) Johnston, George Johnston, Norman Johnston, and Gordon Johnston; brothers-in-law: Archie McIver, Bob Harder, and Kermit Hagman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
