Rick Jensen Obituary

JENSEN-RICK ROBERT: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rick Robert Jensen, age 71 of Webb, Saskatchewan. Rick, along with son Kevin Jensen, passed away as result of a fatal farmhouse fire on March 15, 2020. The Jensen family extends their gratitude to the first responders, neighbours and friends who responded to the scene; we are forever grateful for your courage and selflessness. Rick was born February 28,1949 in Swift Current, SK. The oldest of four siblings, Rick had a passion for farming and aviation. Rick became a pilot in 1968 and was the owner and operator of the 1,700 acre mixed-farming operation that his grandfather established in 1909. Rick worked from 1970 to 1974 in the Process Department at the Consumers Co-operative Refinery Limited in Regina. In 1974 he married Yvonne Ferner from Sedley, SK and they moved to the family farm. A lifelong leader and advocate for agriculture in the Province of Saskatchewan and beyond, Rick became a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool delegate in 1984 and was elected as a Pool Director from 2004 to 2008. In 1988, he became secretary-manager for the South West Saskatchewan Forage Co-operative Association Limited, and later became an Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) Representative in 2012 and was elected to the APAS Board of Directors in 2016, both positions he held until his passing. Rick is predeceased by wife Yvonne, who he was married to for 40 years. They called the Jensen family farm near Webb home where they raised three wonderful boys, Bradley, Mark and Kevin Jensen. Rick and Yvonne loved to visit with friends and neighbours, help out at community events, travel, and spend time with their grandchildren. To the many family and friends who knew and loved Rick, he will also be fondly remembered for his ongoing commitment to community. Rick's community involvement included being the first president of the Autumn House Independent Living Facility in Gull Lake, first president of the Swift Current Bingo Association and for 15 years was the Exalted Ruler of the Webb Elks Club. Other pursuits that Rick followed included being a 4-H leader for beef, was an air applicator for 20 years, worked for MNP from Swift Current with the CAIS program, and from 2006 to 2012 was an environmental farm plan advisor for eight southwest Rural Municipalities. In Rick's not so spare time, he was also an enthusiastic Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, an avid reader with his love of books, a card player and enjoyed curling when he was younger. Rick is survived by son Bradley (Adrienne) and grandchildren Malia and Finn Jensen of Warman, SK; son Mark Jensen (Kim Stonehouse) and grandchildren Caeden and Maren Shaw-Jensen of Medicine Hat, AB; brother Blair (Bea) Jensen and children Jeanette, Michael (Lacey) and Martin (Lona) Goldney and Wade (Sarah) and Justine Jensen (Brandon Hueser); sister Deleigh (Brent) Rausch and children Jennie Rausch and Jara (Jeff) Spence; sister Shelley Jensen (Tom Gibson); brother-in-law Peter (Bev) Ferner and daughter Megan (Garrett) Nagy; sister-in-law Marlene (Dwayne) Dament and children Corey and Deanna Dament; along with many wonderful cousins, great nieces and nephews, and special friends. He is predeceased by parents Robert Jensen and Shirley Jensen, and in-laws Godfrey and Dorothy Ferner. Due to current concerns with the COVID-19 virus, the Jensen family is tentatively scheduling the memorial service for Rick and Kevin Jensen in late July 2020 in Gull Lake, SK with a private internment service to follow. In memoriam, donations may be made to STARS air ambulance, with whom Rick had a life-saving ride when battling prostate cancer. Memorial arrangements are in care of Warren's Funeral Home. The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning, that God
was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
