Rene Filion

Filion, Rene, 82, of Beverly, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 at The Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Rene was surrounded by his wife and children at the time of his passing. Rene was born at the Bradly farm in Cadillac, Saskatchewan on November 14, 1936. He grew up on the farm and worked on many farms in his youth. Rene met the love of his life, Mary Brown, while he was working in Gull Lake and they married in 1956. The couple made their home in Beverly and he worked at the Swift Current Research Station for 30 years. Rene loved to socialize, play cards and listen to country music. Rene was predeceased by his parents, Marguerite Roy and Rene Filion Sr, his parents in law Oscar and Helen Brown, his brother in law Leonard Brown and his great grand son Brendan Jahnke. Rene is survived by his wife Mary; his four children, Leonard, Kathy (Dennis) Quebec, Joseph (Sheila) Filion & Sheila (John) Sparks; his grand children, Stacey (Tamara) Quebec, Tanya Quebec, Trevor (Krystal) Filion, Tasha (Jon) Shauf, Kyle Corey, Tyler (Sarah) Filion, Tyson Filion, Dylan Filion, Jennifer (Matt) Sparks, Joshua Filion, Travis Sparks, Shalynn Sparks, Adam Filion; great grand children, Cassandra Wilcox, James Wilcox, Joshua Wilcox, Hayli Jahnke, Jordi Jahnke, Allie Filion, Walker Filion, Zoe Filion, Kaleb Lange, Seth Lange, Braelyn Roncin; great, great grand son Liam Aelery. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sally (Vern) Spetz, and Mariette Filion. The funeral service was held at 2 pm on July 19, 2019 at Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
