Ray Wiens Obituary

Harvey Raymond Wiens, aka Wiener Dog, aged 73 of Tompkins, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Cypress Regional Hospital on April 17, 2022. Ray is survived by his wife, Wanda; daughters: Crystal (Harold) and children, Haley & Hayden; and Patricia (Marc); brother, Dennis (Dianne); sister, Donna Mae (Gerald); and many special nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his father, William, mother, Gladys, and stepfather, Harry. Ray was born in Gull Lake, SK on September 29, 1948 and attended Tompkins School. He married Wanda Moen in Tompkins, SK on December 9, 1983, at the Tompkins Legion Hall. Ray was a truck driver for most of his life, which took him across Canada and throughout the United States for many years. He recently retired from Bison Transport as a short-haul driver. Ray loved his vehicles, some of which are quite well-known around Tompkins; Casper and the Rider truck were 2 of his favorites. He also had a passion for restoring old vehicles, many of which have appeared in car shows across Southwest Saskatchewan. In the '80s, Ray spent time at the racetrack. His yellow stock car, #11, was often the race winner. Ray was a funny man and he always had a story to tell anyone that would listen. He always used to tell his daughters "Do as I say, not as I do," and anyone that knew Ray knew that was very good advice. He liked taking on handyman jobs around the house and even though he wasn't the best, using his unique approach always got the job done. In memory of Ray, donations may be made to the Tompkins Cancer Committee, c/o Patty Sloan, Box 412, Tompkins SK S0N 2S0.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
