Randy Folbar Obituary

Folbar, Randy James, age 65, of Swift Current, passed away October 26, 2025 at Swift Current.  At Randy’s request, no service will be held.

Randy is survived by his brothers: Preston Folbar, and Miles Folbar; niece Kari Folbar; nephews: Kenny Folbar, and Barrie Folbar; great-nieces and great-nephews: Chadelaine, Evelyn, Azreal, Katherine, Kayden, Emma, and Kayce.

He was predeceased by his loving parents and favorite people, Katherine “Kay” Burke (2015) and his stepfather Barrie Burke (2012); his dad Frederick “Fred” Folbar (1985), and nephew Frederick “Fred” Folbar (1996).

Randy was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on June 10, 1960.  He was a farm hand on his parent’s farm for many years at Climax, Saskatchewan, until his parents retired to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, in 1996.  Randy then worked at Smitty’s restaurant where he made many close friends.  He also spent the rest of his time caring for his aging parents.

Randy was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed participating in fantasy hockey drafts where he took pride in his rankings.  He particularly enjoyed winning prizes of hockey memorabilia to share with his family and friends.  Randy leaves many close friendships that he cherished over the years.  Although he fell out of touch with many, he enjoyed reminiscing with his niece and nephews the stories of his mischief with his friends.

Randy dearly loved his parents and he missed and thought about them daily.  Those who knew him will take comfort knowing that he is now drinking coffee and playing cards with Mom and Barrie again.  He dearly loved his niece and nephews, and had a large part to play in raising them.  His absence will be deeply felt, and will leave a void in the hearts of those he left behind.  Next to his loving parents, Randy’s love for his dogs had no limits.  He loved his dogs with all of his heart and remembered and talked about every one of them often.  Every dog that passed over the Rainbow Bridge took a piece of Randy’s heart with it.
