Phyllis was born June 1926 in Cabri,SK. She was raised on the farm her grandfather homesteaded in 1909, north of Hazlet. She went to school at Jamesville country school and took grade 11 and 12 at Hazlet school. After graduating she headed to Regina to hairdressing school. Upon completing her course she moved back to Swift Current to work as a hairdresser. In 1948 she married Orland Robertson and took up residence in Hazlet. They had two sons Steve and Tim and later Shelly Jo. After eleven years as town residents, her dad retired and they moved to the original homestead farm. She had a green thumb that could grow big beautiful gardens, had a way with animals and many pets over the years. Entertaining neighbors and friends was something she enjoyed and was known for her cooking skills. Phyllis enjoyed family gatherings and the many fishing and camping trips the family took with friends. After 24 years on the farm Orlie and Phyllis built a house in Hazlet and retired. They enjoyed several bus trips in Canada and the United States. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren and family. She loved being able to watch them at their school functions and sports. She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Lutheran Church ladies group, was on the committee that composed the first Hazlet History book, member of the Red Hatters and volunteered at many community functions.

After Orlie passed away, she remained in Hazlet for several years before moving to Riverview Estates in Swift Current where she made many new friends and enjoyed the activities. While residing here, her cousin Jan took her on the trip of a lifetime to Norway to meet many relatives and to see where her ancestors came from.

After a fall at Riverview Estates she moved to the Meadows where she
resided until her passing. She appreciated the care she received from the staff and because of her good nature and humor she quickly became a favorite. She even taught them some Norwegian words.

A celebration of life will be held on June 21 at 2:00 in the Hazlet
Community Hall. Interment will be at the Bethany Cemetery at Hazlet.

The family would like to thank the staff of house 11, the nurses and doctors at the Meadows for their care of Phyllis. “Mange Takk.” Donations in her memory can be made to the Hazlet Regional Park.
