Philip Baron Obituary

Philip Alex Baron age 89 of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away on October 23, 2024, at Cypress House.  Philip was born on November 23, 1934, to Valentine and Monica (Loran) Baron at Burstall, Saskatchewan, the youngest of nine children.  He attended school at Monmouth, Burstall, and completed grades 11 and 12 at Richmound.  It was there he met Mona Fleck and they were married on December 29, 1955.  Besides his wife, Philip is survived by two sons and a daughter, Dale (Bev) – Jeff (Marissa) Isabel and Claire, Amanda (Giacomo), Marilyn (Wayne) Pittman – Jeremy (Monica) Ariela and Oliver; Rory, Tyler.  Dan (Kathy) – Kristin (Dan) Lily and Link, Erika (Curtis) Owen and Emma, Melissa (Zac), grandson Anthony (Marianna), sisters-in-law Mina Baron and Maggie Fleck, brother-in-law Richard (Shirley) Fleck, plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Stephen, mother and father Monica and Valentine Baron, mother and father-in-law Helen and Anton Fleck, brothers Ralph (Mary), Ludwig (Aggie), Joe, Matt (Jane), John (Rose), and sisters Tillie (John) Fauth, Rose (Alex) Fauth, Monica, and brother-in-law Don Fleck.
During the course of his life, Philip had various occupations including Empress Lumber at Bindloss, Richmound Coop, and Pioneer Grain at Lac Vert and Morse. His final position was as manager of the Morse Credit Union which he held for 20 years. He retired in 1996.
Phil was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of the Morse Elks Club.  After moving to Swift Current he was treasurer for Abby Glen Phase 2 condo association and the Swift Current Square Dance Club.
Phil and Mona moved to Swift Current in 2004 To Abby Glen Phase 2. In Swift Current, they enjoyed new friends, bowling, dancing, golf, square dancing, and other activities. They attended Christ the Redeemer Church where Phil was an usher and helped with funerals. They also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Recently they left Abby Glen and made their new home at Cypress House.

Funeral services will be held at Christ the Redeemer Church on October 28, 2024, at 11:00 am. 
Reception to follow.
A private family interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
