He was always telling people how excited he was that he was taken home by train as there was so much snow and the horse and buggy was not able to make that trip. This being a precursor in his life as later, he had to start digging the trains out from the snow as well. He attended school in the Wymark District.  Peter worked many jobs, including being a milk delivery man, farm laborer, working in the oil fields, helped to rebuild a grain elevator in Swift Current, worked for sand and gravel crusher companies in both Saskatchewan and Alberta, and other odd jobs.  One job he enjoyed telling people about is the time he drove a ½ ton truck loaded with dynamite and caps and going across the river on a ferry. His last place of employment was with Delta Rock and Sand before retiring.  He married Ruby Carruthers on April 9, 1966 in Swift Current at Grace United Church. In the middle of the service, Peter attempted to get out of the marriage by fainting, but eventually recovered and partied on ever since. The day started out beautiful, however during the reception the rain started.  By the end of the night, on the way home to Wymark, the car was pushing snow that reached half way up the front of the car.
Peter enjoyed the many visits from his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved to go fishing whenever he could and really enjoyed using his pickerel rig where he would catch many fish compared to anyone he would go with.  Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Cypress Regional Hospital and Home Care who provided the care and compassion in the time he had left.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A.
