Paul McGregor Obituary

Paul James McGregor beloved son of Orville and Sheila McGregor passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK on August 24, 2022. Paul was predeceased by his mother Sheila (nee Parker) McGregor in 2010. Paul leaves to mourn Orville and Barbra McGregor; aunt Shirley Turlson and family; cousin Shelley Drever and family; brother Mike (Val); nieces Stephanie and family and Alyssia and family; as well as many cousins and friends. Paul was born in 1970 in Swift Current. The family moved to Olds, AB when Paul was 9 years old. Paul worked for OH McGregor Oilfield, the company Orville started in Olds, and later Paul became part owner of the oil company with his brother Mike and Paul looked after the books and accounts. Paul left Olds in 2019 and came to live at the family farm at Gull Lake, SK with his dad Orville and Barb. He became employed by the Gull Lake Co-op which he enjoyed the job and people. Paul was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery to remove a kidney. He could no longer work and moved to Swift Current to be closer to  his doctors and hospital. Paul made two very good friends when he moved to Gull Lake Steve Robinson and Matt Sorenson. Orville would like to say thanks for the help and friendship given by them. Paul loved animals, especially our dog Buddy. This was shown while we went to Yuma for winter. The big shaggy retriever slept in the middle of the living room or Paul's bed and the bond was formed. Paul had many friends in Olds. Every weekend there was a party somewhere. They would fly fish, ski-doo, mountain bike, drive cars and party. The World Junior Hockey Championship, Paul and his pals attended in 2010 which was a great highlight in his life. Paul was not a farmer when he fixed fence and went with Orville but the time was treasured. When the look and the word "no" was said you could not change Paul's mind. His courage while battling cancer brought tears to our eyes many times. There is a big empty space in our lives, look after him Sheila. Donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 1910 McIntyre Street Regina, SK S4P 2R3. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
