Pat Krueger Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Pat Krueger announces her peaceful passing on Friday, October 25, 2024.

The youngest child of Irish Canadians Andrew and Mary (O’Leary) Mulvena, Mary Patricia Josephine (Molly) was born in Assiniboia, SK, March 19, 1940. She was raised and educated in Assiniboia and at Sion Academy, Moose Jaw. Following graduation from the Assiniboia Separate School (1958), she attended Moose Jaw Teacher’s College. Her first teaching assignment was Estevan, SK, where she met Articling student, Don Krueger. After a year of discernment while teaching in Cold Lake, AB, she and Don were married in Assiniboia October 7, 1961. Swift Current became their home for the next 33 years where they raised their family of five. They moved to North Battleford, SK, following Don’s appointment as Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench for the Battlefords in November 1994.

Pat made her home in Assiniboia, Moose Jaw, and Prince Albert after Don’s death in 2007.

Deeply involved in all communities in which she lived, music was her passion. This led to involvement in Church Music Ministries for over fifty years, and in Band activities in Swift Current, the Battlefords, Assiniboia, and Moose Jaw. She especially enjoyed playing with the Battlefords Concert Band, Battlefords Big Band (Jazz), and “Ladies Choice” in Swift Current with dear friends Marge and Betty.

Pat is survived by her five children and their families: Holly (Danny), Edmonton; Jan and Mark Marcenko (Dexter [and his wife Sophie and their children Maisie and Rowan], Matilda and Desmond), Hobart, Tasmania, Australia; Nat Strom (Mollie and her daughter Scarlet), Prince Albert; Richard and Roberta, Pembroke, ON; and Monte and Meghann (Declan, Astrid and Arlo), Edmonton, AB, along with extended Krueger and Mulvena families.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Krueger, parents, Andrew and Mary Mulvena, siblings Terry Mulvena, Margaret Wolfe, Walter Mulvena, Bill Mulvena, Desmond Mulvena (Chubby), in-laws Henry and Esther Krueger, brothers-in-law Harley Krueger, Wayne Krueger, Ed Wolfe, Elmer Martin, Bernard Moberg, Gordon Petterson; sisters-in-law Shirley Mulvena, Cynthia Mulvena, Ruth Martin and nephews Jack and Pat Wolfe, Kelly, Tom and Leary Mulvena.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, November 2 with Father Daniel Malone officiating, followed by a private internment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
