Obituary

It is with a heavy heart the family of Myrna Jane Furseth announce her passing at the age of 69 at her home in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on July 23, 2023.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  Myrna was born on April 18, 1954, to Alf and Jean Furseth in Swift Current.  She grew up on the family farm near Waldeck,SK with her younger siblings, Bruce, and Donna.  Myrna attended school at Central, Beatty, and the Swift Current Comp. On July 24, 1971, Myrna wed Phil Zanger and had two children, Crystal (1971) and Shannon (1975).  On February 14, 1977, Myrna wed Ric Cox and had two children, Richard (1977) and Dennis (1979).  Myrna is survived by her four children, Crystal (Jason), Shannon (Jason), Ricky (Deanna), and Dennis (Angel); her longtime companion, Al Cooledge, his two children, Allen (Sandy), children, Brittney and Brianna, and Tracey (Rob), children, Matthieu and Ella; her six grandchildren, Rhett, Dakota, Brianna, Carson, Thomas, and Aidan; her three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Kohlten and Averrey; brother Bruce (Liz), sister Donna (Wade), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Myrna was predeceased by her father (Alf) and mother (Jean). Myrna had different careers throughout her life, including retail, secretarial work, and her courier job which took her around southern Saskatchewan.  Her courier job is where she met her friend Karen Woods, who has since become a dear friend to our family.  Most recent, Myrna held a part time job at the post office that she enjoyed in her retirement.  She had an amazing sense of humour and loved a good joke.  In her spare time, she loved gardening and flowers. She took pride in her flowers and garden and was always happy to give advice on growing anything.  Myrna also enjoyed reading, bowling, playing cards and games, music, sewing and cross-stitch.  She also enjoyed making jam.  Her family all had their favourites; raspberry, spicy peach, blueberry, and heavenly.  We all knew at Christmas we would be receiving some jam, as well as her shortbread and her annual Christmas letter.  Every Saturday, Myrna carried on the tradition of Family coffee (after Jean’s passing) for anyone who wanted to meet, keeping the family in touch. Myrna’s favourite pastime was travelling and spending time with family at our annual camping trip.  She looked forward to the trip every year.  We had just returned from Cypress Hills this year, one of her favourite places.  We as a family are all so thankful, we got to be together one last time.  Our family will have a celebration of mom’s life on September 9, 2023, at the Eagles in Swift Current, from 2-5pm. (Come and Go).  Donations in Myrna’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.  For further information please call 1-306-773-8831 or 1-800-267-6606, or visit our website at www.warrensfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members on the tribute wall
