Mel was born on January 25, 1930 on the farm near Mossbank, Saskatchewan. He grew up in Smeaton and spent most of his adult life in Swift Current, where he worked in car dealerships for many years. Mel was athletic and especially enjoyed golfing and curling. A family get-together in Outlook, where Mel and his boys participated in the Outlook Men's Open Golf Tournament, was a highlight every summer. We will all miss his great sense of humour. Mel and Doreen enjoyed travelling with Good Sam and spent their winters on Vancouver Island in their later years. Mel was quick to volunteer with Swift Current community organizations, including Associated Canadian Travellers, the Elmwood Golf Club, the Shriners, and Good Sam.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at The Meadows, where Mel was treated with kindness and respect. Donations in Mel's name may be made to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation Inc., Suite #1, 345 - 3rd Ave South, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 1M6. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
