Marty Schmidt Obituary

Marty R. Schmidt of Swift Current passed away suddenly at the age of 55. The Funeral Service was held Saturday, November 21, 2020 from the Eastside Church of God with Pastor Kevin Snyder and Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The Pallbearers were Dave Ross, JD Shaw, Johnny Froese, Frank Klassen, Jeff Mason, Curtis Pilat, Brian Hilts, Kevin Schulties, Kevin Pisiak. The Honorary Pallbearers were Terry Cornforth, Randy Pilat and Jason Ross, his riding families, all of his friends and family present and predeceased. The Interment Service took place at Memory Gardens. Where do we even start? A son, a brother, our adventure organizer and leader, class clown, supporter, protector and hero, is gone. The hole in our hearts and lives is immense and beyond words. Marty's motto was LIVE LIFE LARGE and that's how he truly lived. How blessed we all were to be part of the adventures, fun and laughter he brought into our lives! He was always having the time of his life motorbiking, car racing, hunting, fishing, barefoot skiing, 4x4ing, building and rebuilding engines, travelling to exotic and nearby places like Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Barbados, Mexico and the U.S. He was always up to something fun and if you weren't a part of it you couldn't wait to hear the stories! He lived life on his terms and always chose fun and adventure whenever possible. To his family and friends and co-workers (The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Lodge 555) thank you for having blessed his life with your love. As the messages and stories keep rolling in from all over the country and the world, we realize what a light he was to not just us, but to all who knew him. He had a heart of gold, he had everyone's back and he was a strong support and often an adventure leader for many. His legacy to LIVE LIFE LARGE will live on through each of us every time we overcome a challenge, take on a wildly fun adventure or do something kind for someone else. We love him deeply and will miss him beyond belief, like so many others. Blessings and lots of love and hugs until we meet again, son and big bro. Mim (his nickname for mom) and little sis, Luanne. Rest in peace.
