Martha Davidson Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Martha Davidson (Nee Stengler) announce her passing on the evening of July 12, 2020 at the age of 82.  She was born June 28, 1938 to her parents Nicholas and Eleanora Stengler in Billimun, Saskatchewan.  She was the eldest of five children.  Martha was predeceased by her parents; her sister Theresa Baron; her brothers Art, Joe, and Steve Stengler; and her grandson Justin Davidson.  Martha is lovingly remembered by her husband Donald; her 7 children, June (Bill), Keith (Colleen), Randall (Laurie), Deidre, Roland (Erin), Jacqueline (Cameron) and Karen; 25 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.  She was also a cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews on both the Stengler and Davidson sides of the family.  Martha was a beautiful person who cherished family, faith, friends, and flowers.  Martha was involved in the Ferland Catholic Womens' group for many years, which catered to weddings and other community events.  Martha was also involved in the Catholic Women's League in Swift Current and welcomed many newcomers to Swift Current through the Christ The Redeemer Welcoming Committee.  Martha was married at 18 to the love of her life, Donald and together they raised a beautiful family on their family farm south of Ferland.  Mom was an amazing woman who effortlessly ran the household, made many of our clothes, created amazing meals and baking, and helped with all of the farming needs.  She made each and everyone of her grandchildren feel special and found a way to connect with all of them.  Some of the lifelong grandmotherly guidance includes: lovingly teaching cooking and baking, sewing, puzzle making, singing special songs together, driving lessons, and teaching the intricate rules of whist, and numerous other special activities.  Grandma was always a trusted confidante and was complicit in numerous secrets.  One of our favourite memories of mom is her joy of life and how much she loved to laugh until she cried.  Her memory was impeccable as she was always able to recall details from long ago.  Prayer services will be held on Thursday July 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Parish; funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Parish, with the burial to be held at Billimun church afterwards.  Donations in Martha's memory can be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave., Regina, Saskatchewan S9H 0G3.
