Lucienne Anderson Obituary

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear Mother, Lucienne Marie Thérèse, on June 26, 2024 at The Meadows.

Mom was born on March 13, 1927 in the Vanguard Hospital to Louis and Pauline Orion.  From an early age mom was always busy.  In her early teens Mom served Mass with Father at the Rectory on weekdays, every morning on her way to school for over a year.

Mom always loved children and her music, and at the age of 17 began teaching Catechism to a large class.  She graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto at the age of 19 securing her Teacher’s Degree A.R.C.T., from then on she was dedicated to teaching music at all levels.  At this time mom started working at the Medical Clinic with Dr. Lewis and did so for 9 years, aside from her teaching.  In between, mom played for Mass, funerals, weddings on the old Pump Organ until she moved to Swift Current with her husband and family.  In 1975, and began playing the organ for Mass the day after she moved to Swift Current and until her Piano and theory class took up so much of her time, she had to give up the organ to someone else.

Mom married Vernon Anderson in 1951 and were the proud parents of 4 lovely children: Danny (Vicky), Colette, Mary Ann (Brian), Aileen.

They were so proud of their family and loved them dearly.  Lucienne is survived by her children: Daniel Anderson, Colette Anderson, Mary Ann (Brian) Woods, and Aileen Anderson; her grandchildren and their families: Michelle (Robert Hattum) Anderson - Keegan, Jaxon; Nicole (Dwayne) Larson – Eden, Brooke, Melissa Anderson (Kirk Fehr) – Kiran, Emily, Kaylee; Jeff Anderson; Jillian (Brad) Carlson – Jannae, Brogan; Jay (Emily) Gustafson; Mitchell Woods - Brennan, Adeline; Kelli Turner - Kennedy, Gray; Riley (Shandra) Woods; Andrew Schultz (Kristen Applegate) – Brandon, Tyler.

Lucienne is predeceased by her husband Vernon in 2002, her parents Louis & Pauline Orion, and special cousin Louis Harmel, as well as other family members.

Spending time with each and every one of them just “made her day,” she often quoted.  These times were very special to mom.  Talking to her friends about her large family she often quoted “and to think I was an only child.”

Mom and dad loved to travel and went to Hawaii many times, toured Europe, and went on cruises.  After her husband died, mom kept travelling with friends to Hawaii, several cruises, and toured Maritimes on a bus trip.

We must not forget to mention how mom loved to play Bingo and her competitions.
