Louise Davis Obituary

The family of Janet Louise Davis is deeply saddened to announce her passing on May 9, 2026.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Mervin Davis; parents Irvin and Janet Lamb; her mother-in-law Anna Davis; brothers-in-law: Allan Davis, Bernie Davis, Jack Fehr, Bill Shinske; sisters-in-law: Dawn Fehr, Audrey Shinske and Willa Lamb; and granddaughter Amanda Davis.

Louise is survived by son Patrick (Karen) Davis; granddaughter Brianne (Morgan) Weigel; and grandson Jakob Davis: son Michael (Melanie) Davis; grandson William Davis (Leanne Ready); and grandson Zachary Davis (Shelby Dzaman): brother Charles Lamb; sisters-in- law: Bev Davis, Doreen Lamb, and Marina Davis; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mom was born and raised on a farm south of Cadillac on February 8, 1942.  She loved growing up there and spending time with her paternal grandfather who held a special place in her heart.  Mom attended and graduated from Cadillac School in 1959 before leaving to study Nursing in Regina that year.  She received her Registered Nurse Designation in 1961 and started her Nursing career at Moose Jaw Union Hospital where she met Mervin Davis who was also working there.  They were married on October 27, 1962 and welcomed Patrick in October 1963.  They moved to Swift Current shortly after where she continued her career at Swift Current Union Hospital on the Maternity ward.  She loved working there and helped welcome numerous babies into the world.  Merv and Louise welcomed Michael in February of 1967.  She continued working on Maternity until the early 1980’s when she switched to practicing Nursing at the Palliser Regional Care Centre until her retirement in the early 2000’s.

Mom lost Dad in 2004 but continued to live on her own in their family home until her passing.  Mom always had an amazing garden (to her family, it was perfect) and spent many days tending that, preserving and canning the fruits of that labour to the benefit of her grateful family.  As well she was an accomplished seamstress, making her family’s clothing as they grew through the years, knitting sweaters and crocheting.  Mom renovated the basement and would tackle any job that needed to be done.

Mom had a soft spot for her dogs: 5 miniature schnauzers and 1 Heinz 57 that brought her immense joy over the years.  Mom was not a fan of computers but loved the phone which allowed her to keep in touch with friends and family, as she was not a traveler.

Mom loved her family and was so proud of their accomplishments.  Nothing gave her more joy than to visit with her grandchildren and share a special family meal.

We would like to thank the ambulance attendants, the doctors, nurses and all the care-givers at the Hospital and at Clover House that helped Mom over the last weeks.  You made her days much more pleasurable and she enjoyed the conversations you shared.  As well, thank you to the clerks and staff that Mom visited with on her shopping trips, it made her happy.

A celebration of life will be held at 2pm May 19, 2026 in the First United Church gymnasium in Swift Current.  We hope those that knew Mom and her family can join us.

Mom will be laid to rest with Dad in a private family ceremony.
