Leonard Schwartz Obituary

SCHWARTZ: Leonard age 89 of Swift Current, SK passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at home with his wife by his side. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. The honorary pallbearers were all of his friends in attendance. Leonard is survived by his wife of 67 and a half years Evelyn; his son Grant (Michele); his grandchildren Aaron Bartel, Ashley (Dallas) Muhle and Kalli Neuman; and his great grandchildren Melody, Rya, Kaydence and Jase. He is predeceased by his parents Christian and Mary Schwartz; sisters Clara (Walter) Bender and Edna (Harvey) Reimche; brother-in-law Clayton Treen; daughter Heather Bartel; granddaughter Allison Bartel; parents-in-law Alice and Carl Berg (Harold Larson); sister-in-law Grace Berg; brother-in-law Rod Chant; and nephew Kim Chant. Leonard was born on January 29, 1931 on the family farm near Neidpath, Sk. He attended Fern Valley School and was united in marriage to Evelyn Berg on October 4, 1952 at the Country Church of God near Hallonquist, SK. He worked at Treen Packers in Swift Current and farmed with his dad at Neidpath, eventually taking over the family farm. Leonard loved hunting, fishing, trapping and being outdoors. The one thing he hated most, was going to school. He learned to curl when Neidpath had a curling rink. He cherished all the time he spent with his grandchildren, looking forward to their visits. Leonard's health began to fail, and he fought courageously to stay with us, but that was not to be. He was a great husband, wonderful father, a fun grandpa and great grandpa and a special friend to all. We love you and always will.
