Kirk Morgan Andrew was born on April 12th, 1961, in Kincaid Saskatchewan, in a dust storm, to Doug and Pat Andrew of Aneroid. Kirk grew up there, and attended both Aneroid and Kincaid Schools. In 1984, he married Sharon Whalen, and they had three kids, Jackie, Brandy, and Joe.
Kirk continued to live in Aneroid for most of his life, where he farmed with his dad, and brother-in-law Claude. Kirk was always a very community minded man. Whether it was flooding the ice at the Aneroid Rink, being the Zamboni man, playing “Mr. Sound” in countless dinner theaters, being involved in sports such as hockey and ball, or working at any and all town events, cleanups, etc., Kirk would always be there.
Music was also a very important part of Kirk’s life. He grew up listening to records and various instruments and singalongs filled his house. He played guitar in a band for several years, entertaining people at countless events in different communities. He even shifted to being “DJ Dad” on family game nights.
Knowing Kirk, is to know that he always had an excellent sense of humour. He never failed to entertain others, or himself, with his stories and pranks. He definitely passed on that humour to his kids who love to quote random movie lines as a mode of communication with each other.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time on the deck at the cabin on Lac Pelletier. He’d often sit there and reminisce about the countless times he spent driving the boat and dumping his kids off the tube over the years.
Kirk is lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon; children Jackie (Jeremy), Brandy (Trevor), and Joe (Jessie); his sister Dawn (Claude), brothers-in-law Jim (Dayle), and Dave; as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He is predeceased by his brother Kevin, his mother Pat, his father Doug, in-laws Vic and Amy Whalen, his grandparents, and other relatives.
There will be no formal service, a private family celebration will be held at a later date. In his memory, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan. A special thank you to all those who helped care for him the last few weeks, especially those friends who helped him at the lake.
Kirk loved being a dad, husband, neighbour, and friend. He always took an interest in other people’s lives, and made everyone in the room feel important. Whether talking politics or life with Jackie, anything and everything Disney with Brandy, or music and history with Joe, he always loved a good story and visit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Kirk ended every visit and phone call the same way, with advice, and well wishes. “Watch for deer, and see ya, love ya bye.”
