Kim Byers Obituary

Kim Elaine Byers (nee Martens), age 58 of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away on January 03, 2022 at Cypress Regional Hospital. It is with heavy hearts we say good-bye to our daughter, wife, mother and friend to many.

Kim is survived by her mother, Doreen Martens, husband, Daryl Byers, daughter Vannessa and sons Derek, Tristan, Keegan and Nathan; in-laws Cleve and Beth Byers, and sister-in-law Debbie (Ken) Bochek. Kim is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.

Kim was predeceased by her father, Cornie Martens and sister, Denine Martens.

Kim was born March 21, 1963 in the Swift Current Union Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. She spent her first 12 years growing up in Waldeck before moving to Swift Current. Kim always spoke fondly of the years spent in Waldeck playing with cousins, friends and her little sister when she had to. She graduated grade 12 from the comprehensive high school in 1981.

Kim's main jobs were at McDonald's, Spar Group, Nutters and Peoples Jewellers. It was while working at McDonald's she me her husband Daryl Byers and they were married July 12, 1986.

Kim enjoyed cooking and baking. She was always trying some new recipe she found online or from a friend. She found new meaning in her life from her online businesses. She met and enjoyed so many new friends through the many trade shows online all across Canada. Her dream was to travel and meet as many as she could.

Kim was a very caring, loving daughter, wife, mother and friend who enjoyed coffee time anytime and her fabulous hugs will be sorely missed.

It was in 2017, while working at Peoples that Kim suffered her first heart attack. We were fortunate that 2 people knew C.P.R. and saved her life. She fought hard for over 4 years but on Monday night her fight was over when a massive heart attack took her life.

We wish to thank all those who gave Kim special care during her recent stay in the hospital. She talked about all the new friends she made.

In her memory, donations can be made to STARS Air Ambulance, Diabetes Society or to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital.
