Ken Schreiner Obituary

SCHREINER, Kenneth John age 90 of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan passed away January 17, 2022 at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre.  Ken was born July 18, 1931 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to parents John and Evelyn Schreiner.  Ken and his sister Mae were raised on the family farm in the Garden Head District south of Carmichael.  Ken attended Stonepile school.  He married Doreen Jansen in 1952 and they moved to the family farm in 1954.  Ken was the fourth Schreiner generation on the family homestead.  There they ran a mixed farm and raised their 5 children.  Ken and Doreen sold the farm in 1993 and retired, moving into Gull Lake.  They celebrated 66 years of marriage before Doreen's passing in 2018.  After retirement Ken loved driving the streets of Gull Lake in his Ford van and watching the weather network.  He had many deck cats over the years, feeding and making homes for every stray cat that came into the yard.  Following a stroke, Ken moved into the Special Care Centre in April of 2019.  Ken loved talking on his phone, calling his children multiple times a day so they were kept updated on what was happening.  He also enjoyed listening to the old time music when they had entertainment at the home.  Ken is survived by his children: Nancy Dahl, Sandra Ross, Terry (Penny) Schreiner, Sherry (Daniel) Roy, and Penny Reeder; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Leonard Kettner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  At Ken's request no funeral service will be held.  A private family memorial and interment of Ken and Doreen's ashes will take place at a later date.  Donation's in Ken's memory may be made to Gull Lake Special Care Centre Auxiliary, Box 539, Gull Lake, Saskatchewan S0N 1A0.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
