Kale Pederson Obituary

Kale, son of Dean and Verna, was born July 27, 1987 on one of the hottest days of the year. His birth set the stage for a unique and unforgettable life.  It gave him the fire and light needed to survive, overcome struggles and then finally enjoy his beautiful life.

Kale had many passions which included cheering loud for the Swift Current Broncos, his lemonade stand, Ability Bowl and Frontier Days. He loved holidays like Christmas and Halloween and building connections with the people around him.  He also had interests in bird watching, geocaching, Pokemon and gaming with his friends. He was proud to be on the Special Olympics Bocce Ball team. Kale had a bright and shining personality. He enjoyed a good party and loved to dance.

Kale powered through his many struggles in life but then was rewarded with kindness and love from so many people.  He loved his work, his home and caregivers, his friends but most importantly he loved his family. He was so proud to become an uncle when his niece and nephew were born.  He took on his role as “Uncle Kale” with great love and playfulness.

Those who had the privilege of meeting Kale would agree that he had a unique sense of humour and an infectious laugh.  He loved a good practical joke and played many through his years.  We often joked that we should’ve written a book about the many funny stories and shenanigans that Kale gave us.

Kale was predeceased by his Grandparents Norman and Esther Pederson, Grandpa Vernon Sawyer, and special cousin Carmen.  Left behind to treasure his memory are parents Dean and Verna, sister Kristine (James), nephew Griffin, niece Abigail and his beloved Grandma Frieda. His many aunts and uncles who were so dear to him: Brenda and Gary, Debbie, Brian and Iris, Maureen and Tim, Glen and Rheanne, Mel and Sherry.  His cousins who he loved to spend time with: Ryan, Rocky, Brock (Jana), Ashley (Brydon), Keegan (Kelly), Haleigh (Josh), Jordan, Braydon, Cassidy (Matt), Payton (Sean) and Lane (Madison).

He has also left a hole in the hearts of his many friends, acquaintances, coworkers and staff at Southwest Homes.

Kale was so brave in his passing and he tried so hard to stay with us.  We are heartbroken that he couldn’t continue this life with us, but we take comfort in the many wonderful and happy memories that Kale has left behind.

A memorial service to celebrate Kale’s life will be held June 8th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Innovation Plex upstairs auditorium.  Please wear your favourite t-shirt or Bronco jersey and bring your coins for Kale’s Lemonade Stand (all proceeds will be donated to Southwest Homes).
Donations would be greatly appreciated towards the purchase of a new accessible van for Southwest Homes in Kale’s honour.  This was an important project for him and he would be so proud to contribute.  Thank you to the community far and near for all the support.

Kale, we will love you forever and always.
