Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kaj Godfred Otto of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan September 3, 2023, at the age of 97.
Kaj was born on April 6, 1926 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. He attended at the Dama school district, which was approximately two miles from the farm (uphill both ways). He lived his life on a mixed farm of grain and cattle north of Gull Lake. He spent many hours caring for his hereford cattle. Kaj would continue to farm that same land until the age of 90 when he retired.

Kaj married Luella in 1969, and built a new house for him and his wife in Gull Lake. He would drive every day to the farm to do chores and operate the farm. Kaj had a real fondness for animals, cattle and pets alike, even a few donkeys. He and his wife Luella loved their animals.

Kaj was a kind and patient man who cared deeply for his family and friends. One of his favorite past times, was visiting and telling stories with friends. He lived a good life, and stayed in his home in Gull Lake until the age of 94. He then moved to the Autumn House Assisted Living Facility for the remainder of his years. Kaj will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Kaj is survived by his son Patrick of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, and his grandson Braydon of Lethbridge, Alberta; His nephew Larry (Estrella) English, of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and great-nieces Kelly (Scott) Jorgeson, Robin (Joe) Farnell and a great-great-niece Emily Farnel all from Red Deer Alberta.
Kaj is predeceased by his wife Luella, parents Carl and Ida Otto, and his Sister Ida (Jim) English.

A graveside service will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on Friday September 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Minister Ken Schrag officiating. At the family’s request, donations to the Autumn House Assisted Living Facility in Gull Lake would be greatly appreciated.
