Joyce Honsey

On January 08 2021, Joyce Honsey passed away at the Swift Current Meadows Long Term Care Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's.  She was 86 years old, Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Norman and their children, Arol (Brian), and Nora (Richard) both of Swift Current.  Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Arlington and Mary, and her two brothers Jack and Ivan, as well as her sister Peggy.  Joyce was born on Dec 29, 1934 in Sceptre, SK.  She graduated from Sceptre High School in 1952 and went on to attend a business and commercial course in Swift Current in 1953.  She worked a number of years in the Public Service and retired in 1999 from the Department of Natural Resources.  Joyce met Norman in 1956 when she was returning home from a picture show with her friend Lucille.  Lucille worked at the same business as Norman and when Norman saw the two ladies walking he stopped and asked if they needed a ride.  In 1960 Norman and Joyce were married.  They welcomed Arol into their lives a few years later, and Nora by the end of the decade.  Joyce was very athletic and loved to play baseball, bowling, curling, dancing, swimming and skating.  She loved to cook sew, read, and garden.  She had a lifelong love of animals and liked to have and take care of both cats and dogs.  A celebration of the life of Joyce Honsey is scheduled for 2:00pm at Warren's funeral home's chapel in Swift Current.
