Countryman, Joyce Dena age 88 of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, passed away on November 3, 2025 at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre. The memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday November 14, 2025 from Knox United Church with Reverend Ken Schrag officiating. The pianist was Millie Spagrud, the eulogy was read by Reverend Ken Schrag, and Jerry Entz and Mike Entz were the ushers.
Joyce is survived by: Daughter Kim, granddaughter Jessica (Travis), grandson Justice (Teagen). Great grandchildren: Tehya, Kael, Connor and Austin. Sister Bev (Don), children Cara and Connie(Kevin) and their children Shelton (Kristina), Jaxon, Maisie, Paige, Kade, Brae (Owen), Mya (Cam) and Amera. Don’s family- Larry (Sharon), Darcy (Tammy), and Debbie (Harvey). Brothers-in-law: Bruce and Wayne Countryman. Sisters-in-law Shirley and Stella and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by; Parents Walter and Mariette Berreth, husband Neil, daughter Corrine, and brother Don. As well as several sisters and brothers-in-laws.
Joyce was born on August 5, 1937 at the Maple Creek Hospital. She attended Caswell School and Piapot School.
On June 28, 1957 she married Neil Countryman at the Piapot United Church.
Joyce worked at the Imperial Bank in Piapot, then the Pioneer Co-op in Gull Lake, followed by the Post Office in Gull Lake.
She was a member of the Knox United Church and the U.C.W. Joyce also served on many boards in the community such as; Autumn House Auxiliary, Museum board, Gull Lake School Board, Chamber of Commerce, Maple Leaf Rebekah Lodge, Home and School Association, and Gull Lake Band Group.
Joyce enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, knitting, crocheting, word searches, sewing, and entertaining.
