John Mondor

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Mondor of Ponteix, on December 17, 2021, at the age of 90 at the Foyer St-Joseph with his family by his side.  He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Therese (Terry); his daughter Claudette Weinbender (Craig); his son Roger (Danielle); grandchildren: Rachel, Brittany, Jillian, Jeremie and Jessica; great grandchildren: Ruby, James and Emily; brother Gerard, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.  John was born and raised on the family farm near Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan where he attended Anchor Country School and completed his high school at Balfour Technical in Regina.  After his graduation in 1949, he started working at Perry's Auto Body shop in Ponteix and then moved on to Stringer's garage which gave him the opportunity to complete his journeyman and heavy-duty mechanic qualification by attending a technical school in Saskatoon.  In 1956 he married Therese Benjamin and they began their married life in Ponteix.  After their marriage, John was working at Stringer's Garage while working towards owning his own dealership business with Chrysler where he developed a strong loyalty to the brand even after he retired from the dealership in 1986.  During the same years while owning his business, John also acquired some land and became a part-time farmer.  Farming has now become a legacy carried on by his son and grandson.  John was very active in the community and volunteering with various organizations.  His sense of humour was well known, and he loved telling jokes and playing good natured pranks.  John loved his family and was so very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.  He loved working with them and just being with them.  His quiet presence will be missed by all.  His patience and kindness were something that keeps us all grounded.  He always inspired us to move forward and continue to strive to be our best.  We would like to thank the staff at Foyer St-Joseph for their care and kindness over the last few years.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Foyer St-Joseph of Ponteix - Towards the "New Van," would be appreciated by the family.  Further Funeral arrangements are still pending and will be announced at a later date.  For further information please call 1-306-773-8831 or 1-800-267-6606, or visit our website at www.warrensfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members on the tribute wall.
