It is with great sadness, our brother, uncle, and friend John James Hunter passed away in Swift Current at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years on Wednesday January 17, 2024. He was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on July 19, 1948, to parents Beatrice and Vern Hunter. He went to school in Pambrun and Vanguard. His younger years were spent working with his dad on the family farm, riding horses, playing hockey, and participating in 4-H. He worked for the RM of Whiska Creek for 35 years and farmed the family farm. He was a great friend to so many and was generous and giving with his time. He helped with grass mowing, snow removal, and rototilling gardens with his Kubota (Hop sing). He loved his coffee group, fishing and hunting. Thank you to all the Vanguard ladies who baked birthday cakes, apple and rhubarb crisp, all the special treats he got weekly. A really special thank you to all who treated him like family. He leaves to mourn his two sisters Bev (Al) Young and Marie (Wayne) Friesen. His niece Carla (Don) Lyons, nephews Greg (Colleen) Young, Tyler (Leah) Friesen, Colin (Stacey) Friesen, Scott (Christy) Young. Numerous great nieces and nephews. The very special Burton kids Trevor, Tennille, and Tyson. John was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice in 2014 and Vern in 1988, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
