John Hamilton Obituary

Hamilton: It is with immense sadness and broken hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of John Scott Hamilton on June 8, 2020. Born and raised in Swift Current, John was one of the good guys-quietly present, strong and steady. Those who loved him are devastated. John was born September 17, 1954, and graduated from SCCHS in 1973. He spent his working life of 32 years with Plains Midstream. His love of family was always apparent. He married Brenda Lacher in 1981, and her sudden passing in 2000 left him to raise a young Jason (12 yrs.) and Megan (10 yrs.). They were strong together, navigating and growing through their loss. The kids were his world, and both are proud to call their dad their best friend. John once again found love and happiness with Bev MacLaurin. In the last sixteen years, they became a team who did everything together because it was fun to do so. They shared many, many happy times with their beautiful blended family-most recently a family Christmas in Mexico. Retirement allowed John to do the things he enjoyed most. Always a fan of leisurely life, he did enjoy his vacations in the sun, cheering on the Broncos and 57's, shooting pool, fishing, and playing a round of golf. He loved his yard, going for walks, a good western and a cold beer. He always welcomed everyone with a big smile, a caring question "How are you?", and a listening ear. His love of all kids took on a whole new joy when he became Poppa John to his granddaughters, Raya and Halle. His is survived by his son Jason, daughter Megan (Taylor), partner Bev, her daughters Jessica (Brody) and Raelene, sisters Heather and Kathy, brothers Kelly (Maureen) and Richard and all their families. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Ted and Opal; Brenda and infant daughter Marie. A Celebration of Life Service was held at Memorial Coulee on June 13, 2020. There are no words to describe the empty space John's death has left in our hearts. In his memory, memorial donation may be made to Kid Sport or to a charity of the donor's choice.
