It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Joan Madeline Bainbridge (nee Player) who passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. Joan was born on May 19, 1939 in Swift Current where she also attended school. Joan was married in 1959 and had four children, Sandra, Jo-Ann, Mitchell and Karie. She was a devoted mother and who took pride in raising her children and showing interest in all their activities throughout their lives. In 1975 Joan returned to Swift Current and started working at Sears in their Customer Service department, which she enjoyed for many years. She was a hard worker and instilled a strong work ethic in her children. In 1983 Mom married Ron Bainbridge, the love of her life, with whom she remained until Ron's passing in 2020. Together they enjoyed trips to Kimberley, Canmore and closer to home, Cypress Hills and the Sask Landing with the family. In later years they enjoyed going to the Spa in Moose Jaw. In the winters, watching "fancy skating", the Olympics and Curling were some of their favourite pastimes. Mom enjoyed sewing, baking, fishing, and camping. Mom's passions included gardening, garage sales and puzzles. She loved making puzzles but couldn't leave them alone until they were completed. Her flower gardens were lovingly attended. Other interests included the Farmers markets and the Canada Day parade. Mom enjoyed countless hours with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found great pleasure in finding gifts of toys and clothing for her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her children and their families. Her daughter, Sandra and her children Randy, Katie and Randy's son Eli; Her daughter Jo-Ann (Joey) and their sons Jim and Jonas; Her son Mitchell (Brenda) and their children Randi, Ashley (Jonathan), Randi's sons Leland and Keegan and Ashley's (Jon's) son Xavier; Her daughter Karie (Craig) and Karie's son Jackson, and a stepson John Bainbridge. Joan is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Barlow and her children, as well as her sister Marjory's children. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Stan and Evelyn Player; her sister Marjory and brother-in-law Allen Barlow; Ron's parents Ruth (Carson) Davidson and John Bainbridge. Joan was a loving mother, wife and friend. She appreciated the kindness of her neighbours, Balzer and Mildred, and her special friends Lynette and Dave along with their children. The many others who visited and helped her made her life so much more enjoyable, especially after Ron's passing. A Graveside Service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Donations in Joan's memory may be made to the War Amps, S.P.C.A. or The Salvation Army. The family would like to thank the doctors in the Southwest Medical Clinic, in particular Dr. Bakare and all the nurses for their care and compassion while Joan was in hospital.
