Jean P. White

White, Jean Phyllis age 88 of Swift Current, Saskatchewan , passed away on November 6, 2023 at The Meadows. The funeral service was held at 2:00 pm , November 15, 2023 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Patti Sherk officiating . The eulogy was read by Eunice Morck and scriptures were read by Patti Gatzke. Ushers were Murray Senicar and Bob Neufeld. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery . Active pallbearers were Ron Smith, Glen Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Arverd Dyck, Lane MacIsaac and Darrel Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were the St. Olaf Esther Circle.  Jean is survived by her children; Rick, Derris (Judy); grandchildren Michael (Selena)Hick, Jeff (Leanne), Tony (Erin), Christina, Melanie, Jeremy, Kelsie (Bryan) Cobb. Great grandchildren; Jake, Aaron, Pierce, Sarah, Kaycee, Hannah as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean was predeceased by parents Anton and Prudence (Kvello)Haaseth, in-laws Arthur and Maude White, husband Bill, infant son Calvin, daughter Shannon and granddaughter Pamela. Jean was born in Swift Current on December 20, 1934. Jean married William (Bill) White on November 4, 1955 in Swift Current at the United Church. 
Jean stayed at home while their children were small. Once the family moved to Swift Current, she held multiple positions with the Pioneer Co-op; most notably in the furniture department at both the Central Avenue and Wheatland Mall locations.  Jean was a member of St. Olaf Esther Circle, St. Olaf ELW, St. Olaf Church Council and the Scandinavian Club. Jean enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, baking, sewing, travelling and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Jean volunteered for meals on wheels and made weekly visits to care center residents . She had a deep faith and commitment to the church. Jean was a kind and compassionate woman, who would lend a hand to anyone at any time. She welcomed everyone with open arms. If you stepped in her door, you were treated as family.
