Jean Gilles Chenard, age 96, of Moose Jaw, formerly of Swift Current, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2021. The graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m., June 18, 2021 from Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Mutavanattu officiating. A duet was performed by Denis Chenard and Denis Cloutier, and the eulogists were Hélène Chenard and Kevin Toth. The pallbearers were Denis, Joel, Jules, Michael, Cameron and Stephen. Jean is survived by his children, Hélène (Kevin), Louis, Jules (Rosemary) and Alain (Marie), as well as eight grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Angela, Carlie, Samantha, Joel, Cameron and Chantal, and seven great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by his parents, Donat and Marie Anna, and his five siblings, Thérèse, Léonard, Jeanne, Émile and Gisèle. Jean was born in Ste-Perpétue, Québec, on January 17, 1925, and attended school at Levi country school, close to his home. He married Yvonne Robitaille at Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan on June 5, 1952. They divorced in 2005. Jean was a farmer until his retirement. He belonged to the Christ the Redeemer community, the Legion and various other social groups. Jean loved to play bridge and cribbage, shoot pool, dance, listen to old-time fiddle music, play the violin, fish and hunt, work with wood, garden, and attend family gatherings. Jean was a deeply faithful man. Honesty and integrity were important values for him. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was very proud of them.
