Jay Christopher Obituary

Jay Christopher (age 69) passed away with his family by his side on May 25, 2023 at Clover House in Swift Current after a brief illness.  The Memorial Service was held on June 5, 2023 at East Side Church of God with Pastor Dave Smith officiating.  The urn bearers were his grandchildren - Chloe, Kendra, and Aiden.  Jay is survived by his wife Bonnie Christopher; daughters Carrie (Kevin Shumaker), and Erin (Marshall Waker); granddaughters Chloe and Kendra Shumaker; grandson Aiden Christopher Kilshaw; brother Jan (Myrna); sister Corinne; brothers-in-law Randy Sauder (Barb), and Keith Fetch (Tamara); nieces Kelsi, Jodi (Danny), Ashley (Eric/Quinn); nephews Matthew (Krista, Gavin and Taylor), Tyler (Kaitlyn), Cody (Kortney, Oliver).  Jay is predeceased by his parents Stan and Doreen Christopher; father and mother-in-law Leonard and Emma Sauder; sister-in-law Jackie; nephews Christopher and Ryan Sauder; and numerous family members.  Jay attended school in Braddock, Wymark, and Swift Current Comprehensive High School.  He married Bonnie Sauder on May 31, 1975.  Their family grew with the birth of their daughters Carrie (1975) and Erin (1978).  Jay was employed at Saskatchewan Department of Highways for more than 37 years.  He retired in 2012.  He was also a self-employed grain farmer.  In his retirement years he worked for Monette Farms and most recently he was helping out his son-in-law Marshall with hauling grain.  Jay enjoyed curling (in prior years), watching all types of sports, hauling grain and get togethers with family and friends.  He and Bonnie had been Bronco season ticket holders for 36 years.  Jay was actively involved in attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events whether that be hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track and field meets or baseball.  Jay and Bonnie were fortunate enough to have travelled to numerous vacation spots.  A family trip to Disneyland, trips to Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, Antigua, Aruba, and Cook Islands and many trips to the west coast and Banff.  Jay and Bonnie celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a memorable trip to Greece.  Jay loved his family and his dog Cooper.  His three grandchildren meant the world to him.  He enjoyed going to their sports events and spending as much time with his family as possible.  Jay's other passion was the farm in that he loved the serenity about it.  Jay was a man of faith who was always there to lend a helping hand and asked for nothing in return.  Jay was a provider, a leader, a kind and generous man who is greatly missed.  His laughter, sense of humor and unconditional love will live on in our memories and our hearts.  Donation's in memory of Jay may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Rd, Regina, Saskatchewan S4W 1A3.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, for further information please call 1-306-773-8831 or 1-800-267-6606, or visit our website at www.warrensfuneralhome.com, and express your sympathy to family members on the tribute wall.
