June 7, 1946 - January 21, 2026
Janet Eileen Little, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, Saskatchewan, after a long illness. Janet was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, aunt and sister who nurtured all those around her and who will be deeply missed.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 57 years, Harold, and their three children: Chris (Leigh), Joanne (Matthew Schoenhardt), and Kent; five grandchildren: Gabrielle and Graceon Little, and Isaac, Annika and Nathan Schoenhardt; sister Judy Fawell; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry and Elaine Little, and Allen and Frances Goudie; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Annice Fawell.
Janet was born on June 7, 1946, in Unity, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the family farm near Adanac, spending winters in Saskatoon while her Dad taught at the university until she started school.
Upon completion of high school in Unity, she received her nursing degree from the University of Saskatchewan, nursing in Saskatoon, Fillmore, Montmartre, and Cabri. She finished her career as the Director of Nursing at the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri where she was known as a capable and caring nurse.
She married the love of her life, Harold Little, on June 29, 1968. They moved to Cabri in 1972 where Harold got a job teaching close to the family farm near Hazlet. There they raised their three children. They put many miles driving their children to swim meets, music lessons and hockey games and towing their travel trailer on many road trips. However, their favourite place was Cypress Hills, where they would often spend their anniversary, and host their grandchildren.
Janet was thoughtful and caring, always generous and welcoming, and had a great love for children, especially her grandchildren. She loved baking for them - especially her famous cinnamon buns, playing with them, and taking them camping, which always included many trips for ice cream.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from the Cabri Community Hall, with Sandra Watson officiating. Memorial donations can be made to the Cabri United Church, or the Cabri Hospital Auxiliary.
While dementia robbed her of so much, she never lost her love for Harold, saving her sparkling blue eyes and big smiles for his visits. Thank you, Dad, for showing us the meaning of true love by providing Mom with such devoted care and patience throughout her illness.
Thank you also to the staff at the Prairie Health Care Centre, Laurel Garry, Harold and Janet’s many friends, and the congregation of the Cabri United Church for your compassionate care and support throughout Janet’s illness.
