Jim and Joanne were married on November 10, 1973 in Saskatoon, SK. Their daughter Eleanor Teckla was born very premature on January 4, 1974 and passed the same day. They resided in Saskatoon until the spring of 1976 when the farm bug hit. They moved back to Hodgeville to farm with Uncle Fred Sthamann. Their daughter, Jaime, was born on February 1, 1977 and was the absolute highlight of Jim's life. Three more precious highlights followed by grandchildren Morgan (2004) Ethan (2006) and Colten (2010). He also loved their dog Lexi who joined the family in 2018. 1989 had the family moving to Swift Current because of Joanne's job and Jim commuted back and forth to the farm. Jim was a hard worker and always put his family first. In 1996, Jim rented out the farm and worked as Livestock Inspector for a few years until he broke his leg. He then went to work for Wiebe Contracting until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. Jim and Joanne retired in 2015 and enjoyed many excellent holidays and road trips with good friends Allen and Lois. In 2019 Jim started chemo treatments and unfortunately the road trips had to end. On October 9, 2020 Jim was admitted to The Clover House at The Meadows. Although it was a sad day it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The care Jim received there from the staff was exceptional and we count them as family from this day forward. He also had the best doctor who he considered brilliant and a good friend. Dr. Valtchanova you provided friendship, love and the best medical care that Jim could have had. He appreciatied everything you did for him. We also would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre for all the good care that they provided him.
