Jack Montgomery Obituary

John (Jack) Montgomery of Swift Current passed away November 4, 2022 at the Cypress Regional Hospital.  He was born to Dave and Kate Montgomery on June 28, 1940.  Jack spent most of his life on the family farm north of Carmichael, attending school in Carmichael and finishing his high school at St. Louis College in Moose Jaw.  He married Donna Granger of Kipling, Saskatchewan on July 23, 1960.  They were blessed with a son, Roy, in 1964.  Jack farmed with his parents and worked during the winter months at A. & P. Motors in Gull Lake.  Around 1980 Jack and Donna started their own business on the farm, Montgomery and Son Sales Ltd. a Polaris dealership.  For 33 years the business was run as a family unit until Jack and Donna retired and eventually moved to Swift Current.  Jack was so committed to his family, his neighbours, friends and his customers.  Any person that needed help or assistance Jack was always there to give them a hand.  Besides the business keeping him busy 24/7, he dedicated much of his spare time to his community.  He served as a Stewart for Gull Lake Knox United Church, President of Gull Lake Royal Canadian Legion 119, Exalted Ruler of Gull Lake Elks #164, Gull Lake and Swift Current Masonic Lodges #70 and #26, Eastern Star Almina Chapter #10, WaWa Shrine Temple in Regina and the Swift Current Shrine Club.  Jack in his earlier years curled, played ball with the Suffield Ball Team, played duplicate bridge in Swift Current, Shaunavon and Gull Lake and enjoyed Snowmobiling with friends.  Jack is survived by his wife Donna of 62 years; his son Roy and wife Bev; their children Karry (Derrick) Skrudland, Carrson and Rhett; Kim (Morgan) Buckingham, Claire, Lillian and Dane.  Jack is predeceased by his parents Dave and Kate Montgomery, his parents-in-law Leroy and Mary Granger; his only sister Mildred Ernst.  A most heartfelt thank you to the staff at Clover House, Cypress House and Cypress Regional Hospital.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In Memory of Jack, donations may be made and greatly appreciated by the family to:  Shriners Hospital for Children, 1003 Decarie Boulevard, Montreal, Quebec H4A 0A9 (514-842-4464).  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
