Marlin, John F (Jack), age 95, of Swift Current, passed away October 24, 2024 at Clover House. The memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2024 from the Great Room at Riverview Village Estates with Sandra Watson officiating. The eulogist was Heather Camphaug (niece). A private interment was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Jack is survived by his daughter Cindy (Larry) McKetiak, son Kevin (Fran) Marlin; grandchildren: Krista (Kelly) Loudon, Kayla (Kole) Klassen; greatgrandchildren: Ava and Harper Loudon, and Bohdi and Adley Klassen.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Evelyn; parents Walter and Bessie Marlin; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Sylvia Coulter; brother Barry Robertson; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Bruce Jahnke.
Jack was born on September 23, 1929 in Eastend, Saskatchewan, and attended Underwood school for elementary grades, and Shackleton High School.
On April 2, 1959 Jack married his beautiful bride Evelyn Hoblyak.
He worked for local farmers and ranchers (mainly Watson Ranch, which he worked for 8 years), which is where he met his wife Evelyn, while working on the neighbors ranch (Minor’s). Jack returned home to farm on the family homestead. Semi retiring in 1997, and moved to Swift Current. Jack worked part-time as a cattle order buyer for Treen Packers until COVID hit.
Jack was a member of local school boards, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Abbey Branch #222, and the Abbey Curling Club. In the winter, he enjoyed curling, and going to hockey games and was a long time ticket holder to the Swift Current Bronco’s. During the summer he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to rodeos. He attended many Swift Current ‘57’s ball games.
Jack enjoyed watching sports on tv. Sometimes the tv would be blarring away, even with his eyes closed, but claimed he was watching his favorite teams the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs (mainly because his in-laws were Hab fans we think). After moving to the Willows at Riverview Village estates, he enjoyed teasing all the staff and helpers, whom he became close with.
In memory of Jack, donations to the Abbey/Lancer 4-H Beef Club, or the Abbey Curling Club would be appreciated by the family.
