Helen Pardoe

The family sadly announces the passing of Helen Pardoe peacefully in her home at age 86. Helen was born in the summer of 1935 to John and Lily Schwartz in Swift Current, SK. The family lived in Neidpath, SK until 1953 at which time they moved to Swift Current. After graduating from high school, Helen enjoyed her career with SaskTel, starting as a telephone operator and taking on numerous managerial positions until her retirement in 1989. She was an Active member of SaskTel Pioneers, enjoying the opportunities to get together with former colleagues.

After marrying Geoff Pardoe in 1985, they enjoyed travelling extensively, including acting as election scrutineers for the United Nations in Namibia and spent many winters in Arizona.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed the companionship of her special puppy, Jasper. She fostered that love of books and pets by volunteering at the SPCA bookstore for many years. In her spare time, you might find her shopping, especially for shoes.

Helen was elegant, smart, organized and a savvy businesswoman. She thrived on being involved and was a member of the Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation, President of her condo association and countless other Boards.

She was passionate about her family, always telling stories about her only son, Rick, who passed away at the young age of 36, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. This commitment to her family was also demonstrated with caring for her parents in their twilight years.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Marcia (Gary), grandchildren, Mirjana (Justin), James (Olga), and Andrew and great grandchildren Henry, Sam, Caleb and Lucy, brother Stan (Mary), and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen is predeceased by her spouse, Geoff (2004) and son, Rick (1992).

In respect of Helen's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Swift Current SPCA Box 1163, Swift Current, SK S9H 3X3, or Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Inc. 2051 Saskatchewan Drive, Swift Current SK S9H 0X6.
